Depp’s association with Disney was severed after his ex-wife, Amber Heard, published an opinion piece. During a defamation case related to Heard, the actor testified that Disney ended their relationship due to concerns over negative publicity from his image as a domestic abuser.
Although Johnny Depp was vindicated in the defamation trial and his reputation restored, he declined an offer from the franchise for ” $300 million and a million alpacas.” When asked if there was a possibility of Depp returning to the franchise, the film’s producer Jerry Bruckheimer replied, “Not at this point. The future is yet to be decided.“

Last December,2022 Johnny Depp put on the iconic costume of Captain Jack Sparrow once again, but not for a movie role. Instead, he did it to fulfill the wish of a devoted 11-year-old fan named Kori. Depp teamed up with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to make the young boy’s dream come true.
The actor sent a video message to Kori, dressed up in the beloved pirate’s outfit and embodying his mannerisms, declaring himself to be Kori’s number one fan. A few days later, Depp had a video call with Kori, appearing once again as Jack Sparrow and remaining in character. He humorously acted bewildered with the technology that enabled their interaction.
